Starting On February 14, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Feature Will Be Subscription Based

Tesla will completely end the option to purchase the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature. Starting February 14th, FSD will be available only with a subscription for $99 per month. Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed this on the X social network.
Currently, US customers can pay about $8,000 one time to get the FSD feature without a time limit or subscription; however, starting in February, only one option will be available.
According to Tesla, about 12 percent of car owners subscribe to FSD. The percentage of system usage for Model Y and Model 3 cars ranges from 12 to 18 percent, while for Model S and Model X, this percentage reaches 50-60 percent.
FSD still belongs to the second level of the autonomy system according to the SAE classification and requires constant supervision of the driver. The decision to change the payment policy was made at a time of legal disputes and criticism due to non-compliance with the aforementioned system capabilities.
