1,300 Employees Were Placed On Forced Leave By General Motors.

General Motors halted production at its Factory Zero electric car plant in Detroit again and sent 1,300 employees home for a month after demand for the expensive electric cars fell.
Production was suspended on March 16, and the factory is not expected to reopen until mid-April. This is the second time in less than three months that the factory has been closed.
The Factory Zero is supposed to be the center of GM’s electric empire, but now it has become a symbol of Americans’ disinterest in buying electric cars. The strained relationship between the US and Canada, which was a big market for these vehicles, doesn’t help either.
The plant produces some of GM’s largest and most expensive electric vehicles, including the GMC Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and Cadillac Escalade IQ. The price is also a problem. Several models start at 73,000 euros, and there are also those that are more expensive than 100,000 euros. It’s too much for Americans! Electrek writes that the factory had difficulty maintaining production, even after only one shift was introduced. In October last year, 1,200 employees lost their jobs permanently. The others don’t write well either…
