These 10 Countries Wants To Ban The Use Of Petrol Powered Cars

The world is going crazy about Electric Vehicles, and this is so for a good reason.You don’t have to spend money on fuel, drastically reduced maintenance cost and zero emission .

Some countries are really serious about electric vehicles and they plan on placing bans on gasoline or diesel powered vehicles .
Let’s run through them .

1.Costa Rica

In 2018 , Cost Rica announced that by 2021 they would  be banning all gasoline(petrol) and diesel vehicles. This is quite surprising as Costa Rica is a considerably small country. Its very possibly they would pull this off as they have a population of just 5 Million people.

2.Norway

They announced their resolve in 2017 . The ban would commence from 2025, but the ban is only effective for new vehicle sales.So if you have a vehicle that is petrol or diesel powered, you are good.But if you want to purchase a new vehicle, it has to be an Electric Vehicle(EV).

3.Denmark

The announcement was made in 2019, and the ban would take effect from 2030. Just like Norway, the ban is effective for new vehicle sales only.

4.India

This is one of the countries on the list that really needs the ban.India is one of the largest contributors to CO2 emissions.They announced the ban in 2017, and it would take effect from 2030. The ban is effective for new vehicle sales only.

5.Ireland

The announcement was made in 2018, the ban would take effect from 2030.Its effective for new vehicle sales.

6.Israel

Announced in 2018, the ban commences in 2030.There is a slight change here, as the ban is effective for only imported vehicles.

7.Netherlands

The ban is effective for new vehicle sales, it was announced in 2017 and would commence in 2030.

8.China

Just like India, they are major contributors to carbon emissions.They announced their intentions to place the ban in 2017 and it would take effect from 2040.The ban is effective for new vehicle sales.

9.France

They are the 10th largest manufacturers of passenger vehicles. In 2018, they manufactured approximately 2.27 million vehicles.The ban was announced in 2017 and would take effect from 2040, for new vehicle sales.

10.United Kingdom

Announced in 2017, the ban for England, Wales, Northern Ireland would commence by 2040 and 2032 for Scotland.This ban is effective for new vehicle sales.
