Princess Diana drove the modest black Ford Escort RS Turbo for personal errands from 1985 to 1988.
The car has just 24,961 miles on the clock when the last owner sold it at the auction on Saturday.
Another Ford Escort used by Princess Diana sold at auction for £52,000 in June 2021.
The black Ford Escort RS Turbo, which was driven by Diana, Princess of Wales, from 1985 to 1988, just sold for $764,000 to a UK buyer at an auction on Saturday.
Princess Diana, who used a fleet of luxury vehicles for official engagements, preferred to drive the modest Ford for personal errands, with member of the Royalty Protection Command in the passenger seat.
She had been pictured with the Ford RS Turbo Series 1 outside the boutique shops of Chelsea and the restaurants of Kensington.The car has just 24,961 miles on the clock when the last owner sold it.
Silverstone Auctions, Warwick, had earlier predicted that the motor would bring six figures at the sale.

A spokesman said:
“We have sold a number of motorcars that have had a Royal pedigree but this car ticks every box in terms of history, rarity, condition and mileage.
“The market adores early Ford RS models.
“When Royal cars come to auction they’re usually Rolls-Royces or Range Rovers so to offer the very best example of the working class hero’s sports hatchback with such provenance is perhaps unique and therefore very exciting.
“Isn’t it fascinating that the Escort RS Turbo was to be synonymous with the white stilettos of Essex but it’s first champion was the most glamorous woman on earth?
Arwel Richards, a classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, said “The car exceeded all expectations,” with “fierce bidding” and a packed room.
“The selling price of £650,000 plus 12.5% buyer’s premium shows that a unique Ford can sell for supercar money.” This means that the additional 12.5% buyer’s premium brought the final price tag to an eye-popping $851,070.
Another Ford Escort used by Princess Diana sold at auction for £52,000 in June 2021, while a bullet-proof 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur used during her official visit to the U.S. in 1990, sold at auction for $45,250 in 2019.
