Amazon Buys 1,800 eSprinter And eVito, the largest single order for EVs in Mercedes-Benz history.

The order comprises of 600 medium-sized eVito vehicles and more than 1,200 large eSprinter vans.

Deliveries will start later this year. The Mercedes EV will join the 100,000 electric delivery vans Amazon has on order with Rivian.





E-commerce Giant, Amazon has ordered 1,800 electric delivery vans from Mercedes-Benz, the biggest such order for the German auto-giant to date.

Daimler said the order comprises of about 600 medium-sized eVito vehicles and more than 1,200 large eSprinter vans.

The eSprinter has 55-kWh battery-pack with an estimated range of 150 kilometers and a maximum payload of 900 kilograms.

It has a second battery option of 41-kWh that allows a payload of 1,040-kilograms and a range of 115 kilometers.

The eVito, a mid-size van, has a 41.4 kWh battery pack for a range “around 150 km” (93 miles).





With deliveries set to start later this year, the Mercedes eVito and eSprinter EV will join the 100,000 electric delivery vans Amazon has on order with Rivian.

Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO, said in a statement that :

“We need continued innovation and partnership from auto manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz to decarbonize the transportation sector and tackle the climate crisis,”

The transport sector, with its fleet of Internal Combustion Engine-powered (ICE) vehicles, is a major source of carbon emissions.

Explaining further on Amazon’s efforts to cut the use of ICE vehicles, Bezos said :

“The addition of 1,800 electric delivery vehicles is another step in our journey to building the most sustainable transportation fleet in the world; and we will be moving fast to get these vans on the road this year. ”
