Anambra Govt visits LAMATA to learn about Sustainable Transport Planning and Implementation.
Anambra State Commissioner for Transport says that Lagos State remained a trail blazer in public transportation.
She expresses the hope that LAMATA would greatly assist Anambra state achieve its vision.


In the quest for best practice in regulated public transport implementation, the Anambra State Government has visited the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to learn about sustainable transport planning and implementation.
The team, led by Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Patricia Igwebuike, was received by Director of Rail, Mr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga on behalf of the Managing Director, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo.
Hon. Igwebuike informed that the team was in Lagos to gain knowledge because her state, Anambra, is trying to develop an integrated and sustainable transport system.



She stated that Lagos state remained a trail blazer in public transportation and expressed the hope that LAMATA would greatly assist the state achieve its vision.
During the visit, a session on the overview of LAMATA was presented to the visitors.

Recall that the Federal Government (FG) had last week certified the ‘Lagos Rail Mass Transit’ infrastructure safe for passenger operations, following a audit of the infrastructure by the Government Inspector of Railways from the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
While reacting to the certification of the infrastructure of the Blue Line, the MD of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, said :
“Rail infrastructure are built to last many generations. We have ensured that the infrastructure built will last more than 100 years.” Engr. Akinajo said.
