Armed Robbers Dressed In Police Uniform Attack Bullion Van In Ibadan, Kills 2 Policemen, Three Others (PHOTOS)
Two policemen shot dead as armed robbers attacked a bullion van at the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The armed robbers, reportedly dressed in police uniform, tried unsuccessfully to intercept the vehicle at the area.
But another report says that the armed robbers escaped with undisclosed amount of money.

Five persons have been confirmed dead, including two police officers, after a bullion van transporting money to a bank at Idi-Ape in Ibadan was attacked by armed robbers reportedly dressed in police uniform.
According to reports, the armed robbers, who trailed the Bullion van to Idi-Ape tried unsuccessfully to intercept the vehicle at the area.

Unconfirmed report said the robbers were not able to loot the van, as the driver managed to escape with the cash-laden bullion van. But another reports says that the robbers escaped with undisclosed amount of money.
Eyewitnesses, who spoke with Vanguard, said the robbers allegedly fired several shots at the escort van in a bid to intercept the van and cart away the money.

Commuters were forced to abandon their vehicles in the middle of the road during a gun duel between the police and armed robbers that lasted for minutes.
Pictures taken at the scene of the robbery incident shows a bullet-riddled Armoured Escort pickup truck, with pierced body and windows shattered by bullets.

Police Command has launched a manhunt for the fleeing robbers, following the incident. The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, who visited the scene, said her men also killed one of the robbers, but the corpse was taken away by the robbery gang.
The police boss said that in and out of the state had been locked down, with a view to preventing the robbers from getting out of the state.

“It is a coordinated attack which we are still trying to find out what happened because they trailed the bullion van from where it went to get money to dispense it to the place,”
“I can’t definitely say now what actually went wrong, we are trying our possible best to get them. Two of my men were shot in the leg, let us investigate and we will be able to give you more details.” the CP said.
