After nine months, Audi brand saw a revenue of €40.4 billion as well as an operating profit of €3.9 billion, despite semi-conductor crisis.
Volkswagen Group-owned German luxury car brand Audi says it performed better in the first nine months of this year than in the previous year despite the effect of the semi-conductor (chips) crisis which affected its 3rd quarter results.
According to the automaker, 1,347,637 Audi brand vehicles were delivered across the world from January to September, a solid increase of 13.5 percent than the prior year (1,187,190).
But Audi noted that the shortage of semi-conductors affected deliveries to customers in the third quarter, which fell by 23.8 percent compared with the same quarter of 2020.
CFO Jürgen Rittersberger:
“As already announced in the first half-year, the shortage of semiconductors has affected us in the third quarter especially. We feel the consequences in our volume and financial figures. Thanks to active counter-measures and our strong operating performance we have significantly reduced the financial effects in the last nine months”
