British Brand Jaguar Will Not Sell New Vehicles For A Year

The 2018 Jaguar XE

In the list of car manufacturers that have recently reduced or slowed down their plans for the electrification of the offer, recently found British brand Jaguar, more precisely their umbrella company Jaguar Land Rover. Instead of presenting six all-electric models by 2026, that number has been reduced to four, and the first of the new Jaguar-branded models should be presented in concept form in December this year.

The concept should be a radical GT model with 4 doors, a price of about 100 thousand British pounds, and a range of about 700 kilometres on a single battery charge. There will also be the possibility of ultra-fast charging and two-drive electric motors with a total power of more than 575 hp.

At the same time as they are developing new electric models, Jaguar plans to shut down all the existing ones: the XE, XF, and F-Type have already been shut down, and production of the E-Pace and I-Pace models will be stopped by the end of the year. Only the F-Pace will be on the production lines in 2025. However, the slower pace of introducing new cars while maintaining plans to shut down existing ones will put Jaguar at a disadvantage.

The production of the new GT will not start until 2026, so in the meantime, about a year will pass, during which the Jaguar brand will not have any new cars on offer in the domestic British market. In the rest of the world, during that time, only previously produced examples from stock, in limited quantities, could be sold. In some European markets, sales of new Jaguars could stop by the end of this year. “Yes, there will be a period where you won’t be able to buy a new Jaguar,” their director, Rawdon Glover, said.
