Bugatti Says Its Track-only Bolide Hypercar Can Pull Away From Formula 1 Car
Bugatti says its track-only Bolide can pull away from formula 1 car, which has an all-time speed record of 373km/h.
Bolide hypercar is Bugatti’s answer to the limited-edition Mercedes-AMG One and the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Bugatti Bolide is capable of reaching a top speed of top speed of 380km/h in low-downforce configuration.
But Bugatti insists that the track-focussed Bolide was designed to chase lap times rather than top speed records.
Bugatti Bolide is limited to just 40 examples worldwide, with each starting at $4.6 million before the addition of options.
French hypercar maker, Bugatti, has announced the completion of testing of its track-only Bolide hyper sports car and shifted focus to series production ahead of start of customer deliveries in just a few months.
First unveiled in October 2020, the track-focussed Bolide hyper sports car is Bugatti’s answer to the limited-edition Mercedes-AMG One and the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Bugatti insists that the Bolide, capable of reaching a top speed of top speed of 380km/h in low-downforce configuration, was designed to chase lap times rather than top speed records.
According to Bugatti’s chief test driver, Andy Wallace, the Bolide with its impressive top speed would “pull away from a Formula 1 car”, where the all-time speed record hit close to 373km/h.

Wallace said :
“The feeling when you come out of a corner, press the throttle, and experience that relentless surge of power is incomparable. You come out of that corner at 100km/h, and from there to 200km/h and then 300km/h is an absolute revelation. In that specific scenario, the Bolide would pull away from a Formula 1 car.”
The track-only Bolide can navigate through corners with complete precision. To ensure it is perfectly suited to circuit driving, Bugatti prioritized on cornering, traction, and braking over outright top speed.
For the purpose-built track-only Bolide hyper sports car, the only boundary is finding at straight long enough to reach 380km/h, according to Bugatti.
“For Bolide, the only boundary is finding at straight long enough to reach 380km/h, with straights on FIA approved tracks unable to exceed 2 km in length, with only a handful exceptions worldwide.”
With the test phase of the Bolide officially concluded, Bugatti has now shifted focus to series production of the 1,600-hp hypercar. Bolide is limited to just 40 examples worldwide, with each starting at four million euros ($4.6 million) before the addition of options.
