On Sunday, Muslims all over the world celebrated the Eid al-Fitr to mark the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

In Nigeria, the celebration of “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, just like in the other part of the world, was a low-key affair due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But the pandemic hasn’t stopped our muslim brothers from the northern part of Nigeria from taken to the social media page to flaunt their expensive luxury rides.

Before now, it was believed that “Petrol Head”, Dino Maleye, has the best collection of luxury cars in the country. But the video posted on “Arewa” twitter page suggest otherwise.

In one of the videos, a Bugatti Veyron was spotted inside a garage that boasts a car collection worth over ₦1.5 billion.

The Bugatti Veyron hypercar, before being replaced by the more expensive Chiron, has a starting price of $2.06m (₦804 million).

But this price rises up to ₦1.15 billion in Nigeria, when the cost of importing and clearing it are added to the base price.

Other cars in the garage and their estimated prices includes ₦100m Rolls-Royce Wraith; ₦70m Royce-Royce Ghost; ₦9m Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe; ₦75m Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG; ₦45m Range Rover; and ₦15m Toyota Tundra.

At an estimated price of ₦1. 15 billion, the Bugatti Veyron is worth over three times the price of other luxury cars in the garage.

The video, along with other videos and pictures posted online has generated a lot of reactions due to the high level of poverty in the north.

Some users stated that part of the money used in acquiring these luxury cars should have been used in feeding and educating the poor.

According to reports, 9 of the top 10 poorest states in Nigeria are from the northern region; with Sokoto, Taraba and Jigawa being the poorest.
