Would you buy bullet-riddled 1996 BMW 7 Series car Tupac was fatally shot in for $1.75m (₦634 million), the price of a Bugatti Veyron?
A 1996 BMW 7 Series in which Tupac Amaru Shakur was shot in has been put up for auction for a staggering $1.75 million.
The legendary rapper, also known as Tupac / 2pac, was shot 4 times while riding in the passenger seat with his pal Suge Knight on September 7, 1996, after attending a Mike Tyson Vs Bruce Seldon fight at the MGM Grand.
The “Hit Em Up” and “Live Goes On” rapper took one bullet in the arm, one in the thigh and 2 in the chest, and died six days later from his wounds.
Witnesses described seeing the assailant’s white Cadillac pull up alongside the black BMW before carring out the shooting in a matter of seconds.
The killer has never been caught, but many people think the murder was organised by notorious record producer, Suge Knight.
Knight, who was grazed in the head during the 1996 shootings, is serving a 28-year sentence for manslaughter for killing a man with his car in 2015. Knight has denied any involvement in the assassination of 2pac.
About The 24 Year Old BMW 750Li
The BMW car, which was impounded by Las Vegas Police after the 1996 shootings, was later sold at auction. It has now passed through several collectors.
Despite being painstakingly restored, the 24 year old BMW 7 Series still sports a bullet hole on its door.
The BMW has a black interior and still boasts the original 5.4-litre engine and a five-speed automatic gearbox. It has more than 121,043 miles on the clock.
The buyer of the car will get documentation of authenticity. The certificate will show it was originally leased by Death Row Records. The American record label was founded in 1991 by Knight and Dr Dre.
Despite the BMW’s gruesome history, it is expected to get plenty of interest when it goes under the hammer very soon.
