Customs Officer Knocked Down By A Smuggler Conveying A Smuggled Toyota Hilux - autojosh

Officer of the Nigerian Customs Service knocked down by a smuggler conveying a suspected smuggled Toyota Hilux.

The injured officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was given first aid treatment.

He was later moved to a government hospital for further treatment.

An officer with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) was knocked down while on official duty by a smuggler who was conveying a suspected smuggled Toyota Hilux Pickup Truck.

The unfortunate event reportedly took place around Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State when NCS Officers tried to flag the smuggler down. In an attempt by the driver to escape, he knocked down one of the officers in the process.

The injured officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, Dan Magaji, in Zaria and was given first aid treatment before being moved to a government hospital for further treatment.

Pictures shared on NCS Facebook page showed the injured officer on a bed as well the pickup truck, which was damaged at the front during the incident. According to NCS, the Hilux, a 2021 model, has a registration number 12H 567 FG (Ministry of Health).

Recall that the NCS Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) in charge of ICT/modernization recently revealed that many of the escort Toyota Hilux pickup trucks used by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were purchased from smugglers.

Saidu said this in a chat with the members of the House of Representatives. The ACG further revealed that the number of Toyota Hilux importation into the country has dropped due to the patronage of the smuggled ones by government officials.
