Lucid Plans To Install 25,000 Robot Taxis On European Highways

Published

Bolt, a major global ride-hailing company with operations in 50 countries, has partnered with Lucid to deploy 25,000 autonomous robotaxis across Europe, signaling a direct challenge to Uber’s market dominance.

Lucid and Bolt have partnered to deploy 25,000 autonomous robotaxis across Europe, supporting Bolt’s goal of 100,000 driverless cars by 2035. Unlike the US deal with Uber—which uses Gravity SUVs—Bolt’s fleet will feature Lucid’s upcoming midsize platform, better suited for European roads.

Beyond technical differences like Nuro hardware versus Bolt’s Nvidia Hyperion platform, Bolt will fully own its 25,000-vehicle fleet.

Europe’s robotaxi market is intensifying. Uber, Verne, and Pony.ai have launched in Zagreb, while Waymo aims for a 2027 German debut. Uber is also testing Wayve-powered Mach-Es in London with safety drivers, and Tesla plans to bring its Cybercab to Europe at an unspecified date.
