Actor Jean-Claude Van Damme’s ‘epic split’ between two reversing Volvo trucks now has 116 million views on YouTube.

The commercial was used to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of ‘Volvo Dynamic Steering’.

‘Volvo Dynamic Steering’ is a world first tech designed to makes the Volvo trucks easier to drive even when reversing.

Van Damme’s epic split, which went viral immediately, has continued to garner views since it was published nine years ago.

Volvo Trucks’ “Epic Split” commercial featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme now has over 116+ million views on YouTube since the famous Belgian actor and martial artist used his physics-defying legs to stand and then split between two reversing trucks.

The viral Ad, which has continued to garner views since it was published nine years ago, was used to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of ‘Volvo Dynamic Steering‘ — a world first technology that makes the Volvo trucks easier to drive even when reversing.

The then 53 year old filmmaker started the stunt with :

“I’ve had my ups and downs…

“My fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That’s what made me what I am today.

“Now I stand here before you. What you see is a body crafted to perfection.

“A pair of legs engineered to defy the laws of physics and a mindset to master the most epic of splits.”

The visibly calm martial artist said the only thing going through his mind was Enya song ‘Only Time’, which was also featured in the stunt.

Volvo notes that there were additional safety precautions like a safety line and platforms for his feet on each side of the two truck mirrors, but no computer tricks computer-generated imagery (CGI).

“The stunt is real and is performed in just one take,” said Anders Vilhelmsson, public relations manager for the Volvo Trucks brand. “It’s a daring stunt but we had full control. There was never any real danger involved.”
