Ferrari Showcases The Interior Of Its First Ever EV Called “Luce”

It’s already been revealed that Ferrari’s first electric car will have four doors, four seats, four electric motors with more than 1,000 horsepower and active suspension. Now it’s been confirmed that the model will be called Luce (Italian for “light”, but also colloquially used for “electricity”), and will launch later this year on an all-new platform.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna previously specified that the car would be unveiled in a three-phase process. The company already showed off the “technological heart” of the electric vehicle in October last year, while today, the second phase, which presents the “look and feel of the interior design concept,” was held. The real world premiere is coming in a few months, in May.
According to the CEO, the first customers will receive their cars in October 2026.
The interior design was created by LoveFrom, a company founded by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson. The former was Apple’s head of design, responsible for the timeless iMac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, as can be seen in the Luce’s internal components.
The steering wheel will be made from recycled aluminium, and its design is inspired by the classic Nardi wooden three-spoke steering wheel of the 1950s and 60s. Its controls are physical, with a layout that Ferrari says is inspired by that of a Formula 1 driver.
A pair of large paddle shifters is mounted behind the steering wheel. They will use the Torque Shift Engagement system, which is responsible for adjusting the Luso’s torque curve. Essentially, they are simulated gearshift paddles.
The Luce will have three interior displays, one of which is a dashboard for rear-seat passengers.
The OLED displays are from Samsung, with the real highlight of the interface being the way the panel mimics a classic gauge cluster. Samsung designed three expressions on the display, each with a transparent convex glass lens and an anodised aluminium frame to enhance the sense of depth. In them, aviation-inspired graphics aim to blend old-school analogue style with ease of use.
