Former Ferrari Designer Is Not Impressed With Jaguar’s Type 00 Concept

Frank Stephenson, the man who designed the McLaren P1 and numerous other famous cars, is not impressed with Jaguar’s new Type 00 concept.
Stephenson, who worked on the design of the Ferrari F430 and BMW X5, did not spare any words for Top Gear magazine in criticising the appearance of the new electric concept, calling it primarily “un-automotive.”
The renowned 65-year-old designer claims that “the overall design lacks cohesion and feels unfinished,” although he admits that the car “looks promising from afar but disappointing up close.”
Jaguar’s unconventional grand tourer will turn into a serial model with a price of around 120,000 euros, which will double the company’s average selling price. Because of this, Jaguar is prepared to sell significantly fewer cars than before.
CEO Rawdon Glover has admitted Jaguar expects to lose as much as 85 percent of its current customer base, while the production model, due to be unveiled by the end of the year, will retain a look very similar to the concept. Sales will begin in 2026.
