Four Stolen Mercedes Cars, Numerous Car Keys Recovered From Car-stealing Syndicate In Enugu
Enugu Police arrest car-stealing syndicate who specializes in stealing cars within the Kenyetta Market axis in Uwani.
Syndicate’s kingpin was arrested following reports of car-theft and the mounting of operational surveillance by the Operatives.
The suspect’s confessional statements led to the further arrest of three (3) more suspects in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Numerous car keys and four different models of Mercedes, comprising two 190 E, one C-Class and 230 E (V-Boot), were recovered from them.
CP Kanayo reaffirms the Police Command determination to purge Enugu State of unrepentant criminals.

Police Operatives of Enugu State Command, serving in the Uwani Police Division, have arrested a car-stealing syndicate who specializes in stealing cars within the Kenyetta Market axis in Uwani, Enugu.
Following reports of car-theft as well as the mounting of operational surveillance by the Operatives, the syndicate’s kingpin, Anioko Chukwujekwu, was arrested on March 3, 2024 while trying to steal a car parked at the market.
The suspect’s confessional statements led to the further arrest of three (3) more suspects in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, who are reportedly his conspirators, receivers, and sellers of the stolen vehicles.
According to a statement by Command, numerous car keys and a total of four different models of Mercedes-Benz, comprising two 190 E, one blue-coloured C-Class and black-coloured 230 E (V-Boot), were recovered from them.
“They include Ugochukwu Okoh aged 41 and Nkemdi Idah aged 65, arrested on March 7, 2024, and Nwoke Sunday aged 57, arrested on March 9, 2024. The suspects will be arraigned in court and prosecuted once investigations are concluded,” the Enugu State Police Command said in a statement.
While enjoining residents of the State to continue to be law-abiding and security-conscious, CP Kanayo reaffirms the Police Command determination to purge Enugu State of unrepentant criminals.
