Here Is The List Of 52 Vehicle Inspection Offences In Lagos State And Their Penalties
Here is the list of 52 Vehicle Inspection Offences in Lagos State and their corresponding penalties.
In addition to the penalties, the VIS may direct the driver to attend the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute for training.
Lagos VIS is one of the enforcement agencies in the State saddled with the duties of ensuring compliance with all stipulated vehicle policies.
These includes Road Worthiness, Vehicle License, Hackney Permit, Testing and Training of applicants for driver’s license/ rider card.

The operatives of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), formally known as Vehicle Inspection Unit, recently embarked on a comprehensive enforcement operation across the metropolis aimed at ensuring road safety and regulatory compliance.
Headed by Engr. Akin-George Fashola, the VIS is one of the enforcement agencies of the State Government saddled with the duties of ensuring compliance with all stipulated/required vehicle policies such as Road Worthiness, Vehicle License, Hackney Permit, Testing and Training of applicants for driver’s license/ rider card.

During its recent enforcement exercise, the operatives of Lagos VIS apprehended several rickety vehicles that its Director described as “poorly maintained, with outdated parts and lacking essential safety features, essentially ticking time bombs on Lagos roads.”
The Lagos VIS’ recent operation focused on vehicles that failed to meet the prescribed minimum roadworthiness standards such as brakes, wipers, lights, shocks and tyres, as stipulated in the State’s Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
But, “driving without valid driver’s licence”, “driving of a vehicle by person under 18 years” and “driving with a forged driver’s licence” are also punishable “Vehicle Inspection Offences” if apprehended by the operatives of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS).

Note : In addition to these penalties, the the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) may direct the driver/rider to attend the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute for training.
