Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled the highly exclusive “G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s” to fulfill the demand created by the 500,000th version of the iconic boxy SUV – a one-off retro model that rolled off the production line back in 2023.
This hugely desirable collector’s item for G-Class enthusiasts pays tribute to the first G-Class model series W 460, which captured people’s hearts in the 1980s with its unique combination of superior on- and off-road.

Limited to just 460 units worldwide, the limited-run “G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s” is available as a G 450 d (diesel-powered variant) or as a G 500 (a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six).
Three colors are available: MANUFAKTUR Cream solid, MANUFAKTUR Colorado Beige solid and MANUFAKTUR Agave Green solid, the later, which pays homage to the iconic 280 GE from the 1986 model year.

Inside, the centre panel of the black leather seats is covered with dove grey fabric while the centre console features a “1 of 460” lettering, which further underlines the exclusivity of the “G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s”.
In addition, the trim moulding of the passenger grab handle bears the lettering “Stronger Than The 1980s” while the front door sill panels feature the topography of the Schöckl mountain near Graz, showcasing the test track where the G-Class has proven its exceptional off-road capabilities since 1979.
The Mercedes-Benz “G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s” is now available for order at a starting price of 160,055.00 Euros – which translates to about $182,500.
