Hyundai reports that electrified vehicles—encompassing hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles—now constitute 33.0 percent of its total sales. While this figure is notable, the contribution of pure electric vehicles (EVs) is significantly lower, though precise data remains elusive due to Hyundai’s practice of aggregating Kona Electric sales with those of the internal combustion model.
The Kona Electric has been excluded from the 2026 model year lineup due to underwhelming demand. When isolating sales data for the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 9, pure EVs account for 26,829 units, representing approximately 5.9 percent of total sales. The Ioniq 6 has been discontinued, with the exception of the Ioniq 6 N variant, which explains the 80.0 percent decline in that model’s sales this year. Conversely, Ioniq 5 sales have demonstrated resilience, increasing by 9.0 percent to 20,730 units despite the loss of federal tax incentives, while the Ioniq 9 has seen a dramatic surge of 380.0 percent, reaching a total of 4,858 units.
