Innoson Chairman Meets With President Tinubu In Aso Villa, Discusses CNG-powered Buses
Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), held a productive meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, August 8th 2024 at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
During the closed-door talks, Chukwuma discussed the future of transportation in Nigeria and expressed his support for the Bola Tinubu administration’s Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGi).
Chukwuma, whose company is a pioneer in producing vehicles that run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Nigeria, believes that the initiative is the way forward for the country. He expressed his enthusiasm for the government’s plans to introduce CNG-powered buses, stating that it would provide cheaper transportation options for the masses.
LAMATA Increases Blue Line Trips To 72 Per Day, Introduces 25% Fare Discount For Rides Betw 10AM – 4PM
The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line will upscale the number of trips between Marina and Mile 2 from 54 to 72 per day, starting from Monday 12th August 2024.
Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, who made this known this weekend, also announced a 25 per cent discount fare for commuters travelling within the off-peak period set at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm daily.
LAMATA said that the new train schedule is expected to reduce journey times, encourage more riders to use the Blue Line system during off-peak periods and reduce transport spending. The new timetables are available on LAMATA website, stations and social media handles.
Nigerian Police Arrest Car Thieves, Recovers 10 Vehicles With Altered Chassis Numbers
Police Detectives attached to the Special Investigation Squad of the Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, have arrested suspects for the various crimes ranging from Criminal Conspiracy and Armed Robbery to Murder and Being in Possession of Stolen Vehicles.
Suspects arrested includes Solomon Nuhu ‘M’ 22yrs, Faruk Umar ‘M’ 17yrs who specialize in car snatching at gun point, Bolaji Yusuf ‘M’ 34yrs, and Lawal Yusuf ‘M’ 38yrs.
According to a statement by Zone 7 Police Command, which supervises the FCT and Niger State Police Command, a total of 10 vehicles with altered Chassis Number, firearm, fabricated car master keys and POS machines were some of the items recovered from the Syndicate.
Ogun Electric Bike Owners To Pay N2,500 To Swap Dead Batteries With Fully-charged Ones – Govt
The Ogun State government has said that electric bike owners will pay Two Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N2,500) to swap their dead battery-packs with fully-charged ones at the three Battery Swap Stations located across the State.
It will be recalled that Governor Dapo Abiodun recently launched electric bikes and electric and CNG-powered tricycles in a bid to reduce the cost of transportation and to promote cleaner environment in the State.
For easy recharging of the electric bikes, he also launched three Battery Swap Stations, where riders can swap their nearly dead battery-packs with a fully-charged one in about five minutes.
Speaking with Punch, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Kayode Akinmade, said e-bike owners can have their battery-pack swapped at a cost cheaper that what a commercial rider spend on fuel per day.
