Jaguar To Have Only One Model In Its Lineup

Jaguar Land Rover is investing billions behind the scenes in transforming Jaguar. It is to become a luxury brand that only sells fully electric cars. Before that happens, however, Jaguar is stripping down the whole thing.

Anyone who walks into a Jaguar showroom today will come across the E-Pace, F-Pace, I-Pace, XE, XF, and F-type. One of the youngest is the E-Pace; that model is now seven years old. Jaguar recently said goodbye to the F-type and this year the English will pull the plug on many other models. There are so many that only one model remains. That turns out not to be the electric I-Pace. That is remarkable.

In August 2023, Jaguar CEO Adrian Mardell indicated that the Jaguar I-Pace would be around until around 2025. The rest of the Jaguar models would disappear earlier. A Jaguar spokesperson now tells Automotive News that the I-Pace will be retired earlier anyway. The I-Pace, together with the E-Pace, F-type, XE and XF, are said to be among the Jaguars that the English will be saying goodbye to this year. Each of these cars, according to CEO Mardell in front of investors, “has not made Jaguar any money.”. The XE, XF, and even the E-Pace—Jaguar’s youngest—will also have to pay the price, just like Magna Steyr, who built the E-Pace and I-Pace. Which model will remain? The F-Pace is remarkable enough.

The Jaguar F-Pace was presented in 2015—9 years ago – and went into production in early 2016. In the phase in which Jaguar is transforming itself into a fully electric brand, the F-Pace seems to be the only model that has to keep the Jaguar name high for a short while. The manufacturer announced in April last year that it would invest no less than €17 billion in the development of EVs. It is working on a new modular platform. Several electric SUVs will be built on this. Jaguar also has a sporty electric four-door GT in the pipeline. This new sporty EV is due to be presented this year.
