LAMATA To Boost Its Operations In 2025 With New Buses, Rolling Stock For Red And Blue Line - autojosh

LAMATA set to boost its operations in 2025 with new buses, rolling stock for Red and Blue Line services.

Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, LAMATA MD, outlined these plans in a season’s greetings message on the Agency’s social media pages.

The first of the electrified LRMT Lagos Blue Line Rail spans 13 kilometers from Marina to Mile 2.





The Red Line first phase spans 27 kilometers between Agbado – Oyingbo, reduces travel times to 55 minutes.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), headed by Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, has announced plans to boost the operations of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red and Blue Line train services in 2025 with new rolling stock.

LAMATA MD, who outlined these plans in a season’s greetings message on the Agency’s social media pages, also revealed that new buses will join its regulated fleet to better serve the transport needs of Lagosians.

“Season’s greetings from all of us at LAMATA! As we reflect on the past year, we are excited to announce big plans for 2025, said LAMATA MD.





“Get ready for an improved public transport service with new buses joining our fleet and new rolling stock arriving for the LRMT Blue and Red Lines. We are committed to serving you better. Thank you for riding with us.”

Since the start of commercial operations on September 4th 2023, the first phase of the electrified Lagos Blue Line, spanning 13 kilometers from Marina to Mile 2, has successfully transported 2.37 million passengers.

The first phase of the Red Line, which was officially launched for passenger operations on September 15th 2024, has reduce travel times between Agbado and Oyingbo to just 55 minutes from close to three hours. It boasts eight stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju and Agbado (in Ogun State),
