Approximately 1,270 US-market 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles may have defective left-hand knee airbag modules. Insufficient adhesive on the dust cover may cause the airbag cushion to become loose and unfold partially or completely.
In the event of a deployment, a cushion that is not folded as intended will increase the risk of injury. 042A01 is the part number of the subject knee airbag module, whereas Joyson Safety System Hungary is listed by Jaguar Land Rover North America as the supplier of said module.

After receiving reports about issues with the detaching airbag module cushion, the British automaker began its investigation in January 2025. The investigation found that 1,270 affected vehicles were shipped to the United States, all of which were produced at the manufacturer’s Halewood factory in the United Kingdom.

The vehicles in question were produced for the 2020 model year and assembled between January 29, 2019, and May 1, 2019. So far, Jaguar Land Rover has received a total of 12 field reports and claims from the United States market between July 2019 and June 2023. Dealers will be notified by February 27, and owner notification letters will be sent out by April 11.

The solution involves the proper manufacturing of airbag modules. JLR did not provide details on how the supplier addressed the recall issue in the production of left-hand knee airbag modules. However, JLR has assured affected customers that the replacement modules have been produced according to the correct specifications.
