LASEMA Attends 1,220 Incidents Betw Jan-Sept 2024, Truck/Tanker, Road Accidents Ranked Highest - autojosh

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) attends 1,220 incidents between 1st January to 30th September 2024.

Truck/Tanker, Road Accidents and Fire Disaster category ranked highest with 389, 282 and 195 incidents respectively.

Between 1st June 2019 and 30th September, 2024, LASEMA, said it has attended a grand total of 7,662 incidents.





The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it attended to 126 incidents in the month of September 2024 and a total of 1,220 incidents so far in the year 2024 (January – September).

In a statement, LASEMA noted that the highest number of incidents this year were recorded in February, March and April when it attended to 156, 148 and 147 incidents respectively.

Analysis of the 126 emergency incidents attended in the month of September 2024 reveals that Road Accidents category rank highest with a record of 52 vehicular incidents, followed by 23 others in second place.

In third place is the Truck/Tanker category with 20 incidents, which comprises 18 Accidents and 2 Broken Down Trucks, while Medical Incidents (16) and Fire Disaster incidents (13), which comprises of 12 Fire Outbreaks and 1 Burnt Vehicle incident, took the fourth and fifth place respectively.

Analysis of the 1,220 incidents attended so far this year shows that the Truck/Tanker category ranks highest with 389 incidents, followed by the Road Accidents category, with 304 incidents and Fire Disaster category ranks third with 211 incidents.





Truck/Tanker category includes 282 Truck Accidents, 7 Fallen Containers, 102 Broken Down Trucks, 3 Stuck Trucks and 15 Fallen Trucks/Tankers, while Road Accidents comprises 284 Vehicle Accidents, 18 Broken-downs, and 2 others.

The Fire Disaster category comprises of 195 Fire Outbreaks, 6 Tanker/Truck Fires and 10 Cars/BRTs, while the Medical category ranks fourth with 188 incidents that comprises of 7 Dead Bodies, 3 Suicides and 178 others.

Data of Emergencies in Local Government reveals that Alimosho LGA ranked highest with 191 out of the 1,220 incidents, followed by Ikeja (131 incidents) and Lagos Island (100 incidents) while Badagry LGA recorded the lowest with 3 emergency incidents.

Between 1st June 2019 and 30th September, 2024, LASEMA, the agency saddled with the overall responsibility of coordinating emergencies/disasters in the State, said it has attended a grand total of 7,662 incidents.

Yearly Emergency Trends in the last six years shows that LASEMA has attended to a total of 7,662 incidents. This comprises of 513 incidents between 1st June to 31st December 2019 and 1,043 incidents from 1st January to 31st December 2020.

Between January 1st and 31st December 2021, LASEMA attended to 1,743 incidents, 1,682 incidents in 2022, 1,461 incidents recorded in 2023 and 1,220 incidents so far between 1st January and 30th September, 2024.
