LASEMA recovers stuck airplane from mud, a day after it skidded off the runway at the local airport, Ikeja.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded from the incident, according to a statement by LASEMA.
Agencies that took part in the 2-day recovery operation includes LASEMA, MMA Officials, FAAN Fire Service and Aviation Security.
An airplane belonging to XeJet Airline, which skidded off its runway at the local airport, Ikeja on Saturday and got stuck in the mud has been recovered by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded from the incident, according to a statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer of LASEMA, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu.
“The airplane 5N-BZZ skidded off the runway while landing and got stuck in the mud, on Sunday, 11th May, 2024 at about 3:03 pm at the Local Airport, IKEJA.”
“This prompted immediate deployment of the Agency’s Response Team to the scene of the incident.”
The airplane was finally recovered from the mud on Sunday May 12th after a painstaking efforts involving the Agency’s Response Team, MMA Officials, FAAN Fire Service and Aviation Security.
“At about 12:00 pm, today, Sunday 12th May, 2024, the Agency’s Super-Metro in collaboration with a private Crane were able to effectively and efficiently recover the airplane from the land space to its runway.”
