Mercedes Vision EQXX Breaks Own Record, Travels 1,202-km From Germany To UK On A Single Charge

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX breaks own record, travels 747 miles (1,202-km) on a single charge from Germany to UK.
It follows its maiden record-breaking 626-mile (1,008-km) trip on a single charge from Germany to France in April.
At the Silverstone, the EQXX completed 11 laps on a track, using the last of the charge on the pit lane.
The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX has smashed its own efficiency record in real-world driving after traveling 1,202-kilometre from Stuttgart in Germany to Silverstone in UK on a single battery charge.
The road trip, which took 14 hours and 30 minutes over the course of two days, follows its maiden record-breaking 626-mile (1,008 km) road trip on a single charge from Stuttgart to Cassis in France in April.
At the Silverstone, the VISION EQXX was welcomed by special guest driver Nyck de Vries, who later took the research vehicle to its maximum speed limit of 140 km/h on the iconic British race track.
Making the most of the occasion, Nyck de Vries, who races for the Mercedes-EQ Formula E team, completed 11 laps, using the last of the charge on the pit lane.
The VISION EQXX was designed to be a preview of the German automaker’s ultra-efficient EV future. Throughout the road trip, the EV took advantage of its innovative thermal management system to achieve an average consumption of 8.3 kWh/100 km in the face of heavy traffic and summer temperatures.
“The journey continues – even further, even more efficient! Yet again, the VISION EQXX has proven that it can easily cover more than 1,000 km on a single battery charge, this time faced with a whole different set of real-world conditions.
“As Mercedes-Benz strives to go all-electric by 2030 wherever market conditions allow, it is important to show to the world what can be achieved in real terms through a combination of cutting-edge technology, teamwork and determination,” says Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
Following a trip, the VISION EQXX was taken to HPP headquarters in Brixworth for an overnight stop and full recharge in preparation for its next outing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
