Mini Unveils The 2025 John Cooper Works (JCW) Petrol Engine Variant
Not long after the presentation of the first John Cooper Works Mini powered only by electricity in the British car company under the auspices of BMW, they also made sure to put a smile on the faces of potential buyers who, in addition to the most powerful Mini model, still prefer an internal combustion engine, because the new JCW arrived on the scene, which is available in two body versions.
The Cooper S is no longer the most powerful version of the three-door Mini of the new generation (F66) because, at the top of the pyramid, there is now the John Cooper Works version, which is once again powered by BMW’s 2.0 litre i4turbo gasoline engine, with significantly more torque in the latest evolution. , instead of 320, it is now 380 Nm.
The engine power (231 HP) remained unchanged, and the figures mentioned are enough for the hatchback JCW to reach 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and reach 250 km/h. The soft-top version takes 0.3 seconds from a standstill to 100 km/h and reaches 245 km/h.
What probably won’t please everyone is the decision in Oxford that the new JCW will not be offered in combination with the manual gearbox that was optional with the previous JCW generation, as the story this time around is left with only an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that is mated to can operate the aluminium levers behind the leather-wrapped multifunction three-spoke steering wheel.
Among the details that set the new Mini JCW in both body versions apart from the rest of the company are the larger openings for the passage of air in the front bumper and the centrally placed end of the exhaust system, and, interestingly, they are on the convertible version (whose electrically operated roof lowers/raises in 18 seconds ) housings of the rear LED lights remained the same as on the previous generation.
The new Mini John Cooper Works is produced at the company’s factory in Oxford, and the first deliveries are expected in early 2025. In the UK market, prices start at £31,200 for the hatchback and £35,200 for the convertible.
