NASA’s Space Shuttle towed by Toyota Tundra pickup truck through Los Angeles Streets, a move that cost $200 million.

Space Shuttle Endeavor carried by four self-propelled robotic dollies throughout the 12-mile (19 km) journey.

The 12-mile crawl through the streets of Los Angeles cost an estimated $10 million or about $1 million per mile.

Endeavor embarked on its first mission in May 1992 and its final mission in May 2011, during which it flew into Space Station (ISS) 25 times.

NASA Space shuttle Endeavour’s last flight in 2012 wasn’t into the International Space Station (ISS) but to its home in Los Angeles, California, during which it sat as a passenger atop the NASA 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft.

Photos shared shows Endeavour, mounted securely atop one of NASA’s modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, as it left Dryden for Kennedy Space Center during its final trip on September 21, 2012.

On arrival at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the shuttle was then transported on a 160-wheel carrier to its final destination at California Science Center in South Los Angeles.

According to Exposition Park Museum, the move, which includes a 12-mile crawl through the streets of Los Angeles and Inglewood while atop four self-propelled robotic dollies, cost an estimated $10 million or about $1 million per mile. The self-propelled robotic dollies were towed by Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

The Space Shuttle Endeavor, the orbiter built to replace the Space Shuttle Challenger, cost approximately $1.7 billion in 1987 dollars or about 196 billion USD in 2011.

Endeavor embarked on its first mission in May 1992 and its final mission in May 2011, during which it flew into the International Space Station (ISS) 25 times and spent 296 days, 3 hours, 34 minutes, 2 seconds.
