Next-Gen Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Will Not Be EV Only

Alfa Romeo is currently prioritizing the launch of the Junior, but there’s also keen anticipation for the successors of the Stelvio and Giulia models.

Earlier announcements indicated that these new models would be fully electric, but Dutch AutoWeek now reveals that they will also feature hybrid powertrains. With the Giulia being a decade old and the Stelvio nine years old, successors are indeed overdue.

The new Stelvio is set to be unveiled later this year, while the new Giulia is slated for a debut in early 2026, as confirmed by Alfa Romeo CEO Santo Ficilli in an interview with AutoWeek.

But Ficilli also revealed some unexpected news in the interview. Although Alfa had previously claimed that the new Giulia and Stelvio would only have electric powertrains, it seems that those plans have changed. “The plan is simple. The Giulia and Stelvio will arrive as electric vehicles first, and the hybrid variants will appear later,” said the Alfa CEO.

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio will be based on the STLA Large platform, which is already designed for electric powertrains and SUS engines, as is the case with all Stellantis platforms. The new Stelvio and Giulia are the first Stellantis models in Europe to soon be based on this platform, which already serves as the basis for the American Dodge Charger.
