Nigeria Customs Service Generated N1.5 Trillion For The Year 2020
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Nigeria Customs Service generated N1.5 trillion for the year 2020, a new record.
The amount generated in 2020 is over the target of N1.38 tr as well as over the sum of N1.34 tr generated in 2019.
Customs says the partial land border closure yielded many positive results.
Before the commencement of the land border drill, NCS generates between N4 billion to N5 billion.
Now, Customs says it generates between N5 billion to N9 billion daily.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Wednesday said it generated the sum of N1,562,115,419,216.32 (N1.56 trillion) for the year 2020.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of NCS, DC Joseph Attah, for the Comptroller-General of Customs.
According to NCS, the amount generated in 2020 is over the target of N1,380,765,353,462.00 (N1.38 tr) as well as over the sum of N1,342,006,918,504.55 (N1.34 tr) generated in 2019 despite the covid-19 pandemic.

Customs also revealed that the diplomatic engagement that took place during the partial land border closure yielded many positive results.
It said before the commencement of the land border drill on 20th August, 2019, revenue generation was between N4 billion to N5 billion. But now, the Nigeria Customs generates between N5 billion to N9 billion daily.
Recall that the NCS said the total monetary value of all the items seized during 16-months border closure, as of December 17, 2020, was N12.36bn.
