Check Out The Interior Of This One-off Rolls-Royce Phantom Painted By 84-year-old SA Artist
South African (SA) artist Dr Esther Mahlangu has unveiled a one-off Rolls-Royce Phantom that features her distinctive Ndebele-inspired artwork. The one-off luxury car, named ‘The Mahlangu Phantom’, to honour her, was unveiled at Capetown on February 13th.
World-famous South African artist, Dr Esther Mahlangu, who designed the unique interior trims for 7-Series four years ago, is back again at BMW.
But this time, she was called to work with Rolls-Royce and their top-of-the range Phantom 8. A special Rolls-Royce customer wanted Dr. Mahlangu’s distinctive Ndebele-inspired artwork displayed inside his customised Rolls-Royce Phantom.
And in case you don’t know where the gallery is in the 8th-genration Phantom. This is a space in the dash, facing the passenger, where customers can create true masterpieces if they so desire.
By accepting to creat stunning vision for the Phantom occupants, the 84 year-old became the first SA artist to create an artwork for Rolls-Royce.
The unique luxury car is named ‘The Mahlangu Phantom’, to honour one of Africa’s most revered living artists.

On Thursday 13 February, Dr. Mahlangu unveiled The “Mahlangu” Rolls-Royce Phantom at the Melrose Gallery One&Only Cape Town, South Africa. The luxury car will be on display from 13 to 16 Feb 2020.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of ‘The Mahlangu Phantom’ will be donated to her art school to support exhibitions that will narrate her fascinating life story.
