The Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) stated on Monday why its patrol cars are stationed at Dowen College in the Lekki district of Lagos.

The operatives stated that they were acting in accordance with the state Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.

According to RRS Commander CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the operatives will station their patrol vehicles at the school’s entrance to monitor activity in the surrounding area till further notice.

The school was sealed up by officials from the Lagos State Ministry of Education following the tragic death of 12-year old Sylvester Oromoni who died after he was assaulted at Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos.

Egbeyemi, who conveyed the Commissioner of Police’s directive to the Squad, instructed them to remain professional in their tasks.

According to a senior police officer who requested anonymity, precautions were taken to prevent the breakdown of law and order in the area.
