Porsche donates Cayenne to Black Mambas, South Africa’s All-female Anti-poaching Unit, to help them protect the Rhinos.

Donated by Porsche South Africa, the Response Vehicle will provide critical support for the all-female, unarmed anti-poaching unit.

The unit patrols an area of around 20,000 hectares in north-eastern South Africa—the majority of which is patrolled on foot.

The Black Mambas, the world’s first all-female, unarmed anti-poaching unit, now have a new ride : a specially modified Porsche Cayenne that will help them protect the rhinoceroses of the Greater Kruger area in South Africa

Donated by Porsche South Africa, the second-gen Cayenne was transformed into a dedicated ‘rapid response’ vehicle by Porsche Centre Johannesburg, which upgraded the suspension to improve off-road performance as well as underbody protection.

Others upgrades includes a bull bar and spotlights to allow for safer operation during night patrols, water tanks, a Yokohama off-road tyres and a roof rack that carries a full-sized spare wheel and additional equipment.

The new fit-for-purpose vehicle will provide critical support for the all-female, unarmed anti-poaching unit, which patrols an area of around 20,000 hectares in north-eastern South Africa—the majority of which is patrolled on foot.

Since being handed over to the Black Mambas, the Cayenne has played a critical role in daily operations, transporting patrol teams, delivering supplies, and enabling faster responses to suspected poaching activity.

In addition, the new Porsche Rapid Response Vehicle—finished with camouflage and reflective markings—supports overnight monitoring activities, where rangers remain near vulnerable rhinos to ensure their safety.

“The team at Porsche Centre Johannesburg took on the challenge of upgrading this Cayenne with great enthusiasm and responsibility,” said Toby Venter, CEO of Porsche South Africa.

“Our focus was to ensure the Cayenne could operate reliably across the vast and demanding terrain of the reserve. It combines performance, durability, and capability, and will serve as a valuable asset to the team.”
