Porsche Expands Its eBike Expertise, Acquires Fazua - autojosh

German sports car manufacturer, Porsche AG, has expanded its eBike expertise after acquires Fazua. 

Fazua is a pioneer in the development of lightweight and compact drive systems, such as the new Ride 60.

Fazua is the latest e-bike company to come under the Volkswagen Group-owned Stuttgart-based carmaker.

Earlier this year, Porsche bought a majority stake in the Croatian eBike company, Greyp (pronounced like the fruit).





Porsche is one of several automakers that are into the e-bike business, including Jeep, GM and Hummer.

In March 2021, the company launched exclusive electric mountain bikes, the Porsche eBike Sport and the eBike Cross.

German sports car manufacturer, Porsche AG, has expanded its eBike expertise after acquiring Fazua, an e-bike drivetrain manufacturer that specializes in lightweight motors.

Porsche, Volkswagen Group-owned Stuttgart-based carmaker, says it has now acquired all of Fazua’s shares after buying into the company with a 20 per cent stake in January.

Fazua, based in Ottobrunn, near Munich, is considered a pioneer in the development of lightweight and compact drive systems, such as the innovative new Ride 60.





“In Fazua, we have found a strong partner with a great deal of experience in the bicycle industry,” says Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT.”

“Fazua is known among experts as the founder of the ‘light eBikes’ category – and it’s a highly innovative company that fits perfectly with the pioneering spirit of the Porsche brand.”

Fazua is the latest e-bike company to come under Porsche after buying a majority stake in the Croatian eBike company, Greyp (pronounced like the fruit, Grape) earlier this year.

Porsche says that in the future, its eBike activities will be merged through the establishment of two joint ventures with the Dutch company Ponooc Investment B.V.

The brand says that “the first joint venture will develop, manufacture and distribute a future generation of high-quality Porsche eBikes”, while “the second will focus on technological solutions for the fast-growing micromobility market.”

Porsche is one of several automakers that are into the e-bike business, including Jeep, General Motors (GM) and Hummer.

Back in March 2022, the company launched exclusive electric mountain bikes, the Porsche eBike Sport and the eBike Cross. The bikes, made in collaboration with partner, Rotwild, cost $10,700 and $8,549, respectively.
