Pregnant New Zealand politician in labour rides a bicycle to hospital at 2 A.M, gave birth one hour later.
The 41 year old American-born New Zealand politician is an outspoken cycling advocate.
According to local media, she also cycled to the hospital in 2018 to give birth to her first-born.
Pregnant New Zealand Member of Parliament, Julie Anne Genter, on Sunday hop on her bicycle and cycled to the hospital while in labour only to give birth less than an hour later.
Taking to her Instagram page on Sunday to share the news with her followers, Julie said she genuinely wasn’t planning to cycle in labour.

“Big news! At 3.04am this morning we welcomed the newest member of our family. I genuinely wasn’t planning to cycle in labour, but it did end up happening.

“My contractions weren’t that bad when we left at 2am to go to the hospital – though they were 2-3 min apart and picking up in intensity by the time we arrived 10 minutes later. (I’m smiling in the car park right after one.) And amazingly now we have a healthy, happy little one sleeping, as is her dad.
“Feeling blessed to have had excellent care and support from a great team, in what turned out to be a very fast (and happily uncomplicated) birth. 💕”
But this isn’t the first time that Ms Genter will be riding to hospital to give birth. According to local media, she also cycled to the hospital in 2018 to give birth to her first-born.
The 41 year old American-born politician is Green Party’s spokesperson for transport and an outspoken cycling advocate in a country with about 5 million people.
