Presidency Budgets ₦6.9bn For Armored Sedans And SUVs, First Lady Office Gets ₦1.5bn For Cars

Supplementary Budget : Presidency to spend ₦6.9bn on armored sedans and SUVs, First Lady office to get ₦1.5bn cars.
FG plans to spend ₦2.9 billion on SUVs, another ₦2.9 billion for new vehicles to replace the aging Presidential fleet.
Proposed expenditure part of ₦2.17T Supplementary Budget expected to fund urgent issues, including national defense and security.
Cars in the Presidential fleet currently includes Maybach S-Classes and Lexus LX 600s, which Tinubu inherited from the last administration.
Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday sent a ₦2.17 trillion Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly for approval. The budget is expected to fund urgent issues, including national defense and security.
One of the highlights of the budget includes a proposed ₦6.9 billion for the procurement of brand new vehicles for the State House, while the Office of the First Lady got ₦1.5 billion for new vehicles.
According to reports, the Federal Government plans to spend ₦2.9 billion on Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and another ₦2.9 billion for the procurement of brand new vehicles to replace the aging Presidential fleet.
Cars in the Presidential fleet currently includes armored Mercedes-Maybach S-Class ultra-luxury sedans as well as armored Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series and Lexus LX 600 SUV, which President Tinubu inherited from the last administration.
If the Presidency decides to go for the latest versions of the current Presidential fleet, it may spend up to ₦300 Million on each of the armored Lexus LX 600 SUVs. Depending on the trim and armoring, a brand new bulletproof Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedan can cost up to ₦600 Million.
This proposed expenditure comes amid nation-wide on the decision of the National Assembly and House of Representatives to procure N100 billion worth of sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
