Rumor: The Upcoming 2021 Kia Optima To Be Named K5

With the success of its sister vehicle the Hyundai Sonata, it is only certain that Kia will give us a flavour of their version. Now the question is whether it will be called the Optima or K5 as it is called in South Korea remains a mystery. The rumours intensified when the vehicle’s EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) figures were leaked by its site (EPA). In the site, instead of Optima, it was named K5 and Kia are yet to confirm this case. Whatever the case may be, the new Optima (K5) is just too beautiful to take your eyes off.
As with previous versions, the vehicle is still based on the Sonata and will use the same engines. The Optima is a sporty-looking version of Sonata hence the cosmetic difference. We may not know whether the Optima will be named K5 in Nigeria as it has been Optima ever since. In the European market, it was named Magentis before.
The Kia K5 has been on sale in South Korea for over 5 months now and the global launch is expected soonest. It is by that time we will know the final name for sure. The Kia K5 is available in 4 petrol engines for now ranging from a 1.6-litre turbo(178hp), a 2.0 158hp, a 2.5 191hp and the top of the range 2.5 290hp turbocharged engine. The transmission of the K5 is either a 6-speed automatic or an 8-speed also an automatic gearbox.
Be assured that when the global variant is launched we will talk about the Kia K5 or Optima. So what’s your take on this development? Is it a positive one or a negative one? Tell us in the comment section below
