Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday March 5th 2023, went on a tour of the Red Line train station and overpass bridge at Ikeja to assess the level of completion of the infrastructure.

Sanwo-Olu, who was joined on the tour by the MD of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, assured Lagosians that the rail project would be delivered on its scheduled completion date.





He added that the Ikeja Mega Terminal of the Red Line will have the capacity to transport over 1,000,000 (1 Million) passengers daily when it becomes fully operational.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday 3rd March 2023 recovered 244 parcels of Canadian Loud (a variant of cannabis also known as Indian hemp) weighing 79 kilograms at the Tincan seaport, Lagos.

The drugs were concealed in medium size wooden sound system speakers packed inside two out of four used vehicles in a container marked CRSU9258348 coming from Toronto via Montreal, Canada.

The imported vehicles used as cover for the drugs are a 2009 Jeep Wrangler SUV and a 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, according to a press release by Femi Babafemi, Director, the Media and Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters.

Six persons were confirmed dead and several others injured in an accident involving a moving train and a BRT staff bus conveying staff of Lagos State Government to work on Thursday morning, between Shogunle and Ikeja axis.





The casualties were transferred to the General Hospital for further medical attention after being given first aid by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s Paramedics.

According to eyewitness, the staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail when a train coming from Abeokuta crashed into it, dragging it from PWD Bus Stop before stopping at to Shogunle.
