Sanwo-Olu Unveils Three Train Sets For Lagos Blue Line, Credits Tinubu’s Crucial Support (Photos)

Governor Sanwo-Olu officially unveil three brand new trains sets, comprising 12 carriages, for the Lagos Blue Line.
He said commuters can anticipate a more reliable rail service with reduced waiting times, potentially as short as every 10 minutes.
Sanwo-Olu also acknowledged Tinubu for his support in the acquisition of three new train sets for the Lagos Blue Line.
With each set boasting four cars, Lagos State Government has doubled its current passenger capacity on the Blue Line.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday June 8th 2025 officially unveiled three brand new trains sets, comprising 12 carriages, for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line at the National Theatre Station.
Speaking at the unveiling, Sanwo-Olu extended his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the Federal Government’s funding and support for their acquisition, noting their alignment with the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“I’m deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for their strong support. From procurement to delivery, their backing made this possible,” Sanwo-Olu said at the event.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced that once the train sets are deployed, commuters can anticipate a more reliable rail service with reduced waiting times, potentially as short as every 10 minutes.
“Each set includes four cars, and with this addition, we are doubling our current passenger capacity on the Blue Line. This will directly improve the commute for thousands of Lagosians, reducing wait times, speeding up journeys, and making the system more reliable overall. Our goal is to have trains arriving every 10 minutes,” the Governor noted.
Sanwo-Olu was joined by key officials including LAMATA Managing Director, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Seun Osiyemi as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa.
