The Grand Tour Host Jeremy Clarkson In Fresh Trouble After Hateful Comments On Meghan Markle
Jeremy Clarkson has been working with Amazon Prime’s streaming arm since he left the BBC and Top Gear in 2015. However, that relationship is not likely to last into 2025 because of the presenter’s comments about Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince William.
In a now infamous piece published in The Sun on December 16, Clarkson expressed his disdain towards Markle, saying that he was “dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame! and throw lumps of excrement at her.”
He has already tendered an apology but it’s too late as Amazon Prime Video won’t work with Clarkson beyond the seasons of The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm that have already been commissioned. It is claimed that The Grand Tour could end after four more special episodes, the last one of which is tipped to air in late 2024 or early 2025. Clarkson’s Farm could then be axed after Season 3 which should air in 2024.
Many years ago, the Top Gear team left the BBC after Jeremy Clarkson had a “fracas” with the producer over a catering mishap. At the time, Clarkson’s reaction was blamed on the huge pressure that he faced, as the show had an estimated viewership of 360 million people. JC went on to apologize to the producer, but the incident did not fly with the BBC. Long story short, Top Gear got a new cast, while the old trio took their antics elsewhere.
Amazon hasn’t given an official statement as of now but it is expected anytime soon.
