Toyota Unveils The Design Of Its New EV Pickup Truck
Toyota has previously stated that it intends to build an electric pickup truck.
Today, we have more evidence that this model may soon become a reality.
This concept car, unveiled during Toyota’s presentation about its future EV plans, appears to be very close to production and is exactly what you’d expect a Toyota EV truck to look like.
Toyota unveiled a concept for an electric pickup truck with a four-door crew cab configuration and what appears to be a relatively short bed.
Toyota didn’t reveal much about the truck, but its dimensions appear to be somewhere between the mid-size Tacoma and the full-size Tundra.
With several electric trucks set to hit the market in the near future, we anticipate the Toyota EV truck to be unveiled within the next year or so.
While we have very little information at this time—Toyota hasn’t given us a name or any specifications for this truck—its appearance tells us quite a bit. It’s a four-door crew cab with what appears to be a short bed and chunky off-road tires that suggest it could be a TRD Pro model. Except for the blocked-off grille that is typical of EV front ends, the styling is similar to what we’ve seen on the new Tundra.
It’s also difficult to tell what size this truck is based on these images, but it could slot in between the mid-size Tacoma and full-size Tundra in the lineup. That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if this truck is a prototype for the next Tacoma, albeit in EV form. We’ll have to wait and see when Toyota decides to reveal more information about this upcoming model, which could be within the next year or so.
