Volvo No Longer Sells Wagons In The US

Volvo has confirmed that it will stop taking orders for its remaining wagon models from next month, ending a long and illustrious era. Production of the V60 Cross Country model for the American market will end in April 2026.
This decision was not made overnight. Volvo says that it is about adapting to the tastes of American customers, who have been showing a strong preference for SUVs for years. The trend started back in 2003 with the introduction of the brand’s first SUV, the XC90 model, which quietly changed the rules of the game. Larger and more profitable crossovers have taken over the role that wagons once held.
As a reminder, the larger V90 station wagon was withdrawn from the American market in 2021. Orders for the V60 Cross Country will be accepted until the end of January 2026, and after production ends in April, customers will only have vehicles in stock at dealers for a few months.
Still, it’s hard to escape the feeling of nostalgia, and even the manufacturer himself calls this change “bittersweet. ” Volvo station wagons have never been just practical ‘boxes on wheels.” They were cultural phenomena—from the legendary ‘brick’ model 240 that transported generations of American families to the turbocharged 740, 940, 850, and V70 station wagons that could put many sports cars to shame on the road. Even the last remaining model, the V60, carries that DNA, blending practicality with Scandinavian elegance.
