Which is quicker in a drag race between a Toyota Hilux Dakar and a Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport SUV.
Carwow have teamed up with Red Bull & Toyota, and they brought brought the Dakar Rally Hilux and a Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport for a straight-line drag and the results may surprise you.
But how does these two epic Toyota Land Cruiser-based contenders stack up despite sharing much of their underpinnings and mechanicals.

The Toyota Land Cruiser
Kerb Weight : 2,630kg
The Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 that can put down 415-horsepower and 650Nm of torque. Power’s delivered to all four wheels by a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Dakar Rally Hilux
Kerb Weight : 2,000kg
The Dakar Rally Hilux, the off-road competition car based on the Hilux, is also equipped with a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, but the power output has been limited to 361hp and 650Nm.

Race 1
With the Dakar Rally Hilux on the sand and Toyota Land Cruiser on the tarmac, the GR Sport was the quickest, completing the 1/4 mile in 14.7 seconds while Hilux does the same in 15.7 seconds.

Race 2
In the side-by-side drag race and both cars on the tarmac, the Dakar Rally Hilux reached the 1/4 mile in 13.8 seconds while the Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport does this in 14.7 seconds.
