13 Classic Cars On Lagos Roads During Independence Day Drive (Photos)

We rarely spot classic cars on Nigerian roads. However, Independence day is always an exception. This is the day classic car enthusiasts usually storm the street of Lagos to display our automotive heritage. The event which is tagged Independence Day Drive is a yearly event. The 2019 edition was held during the month of October, and Autojosh.com was there to show you some of the classic cars that featured at the event. This event was anchored by Grills2Grills and Vintage Cars Nigeria. Without much ado, let’s get rolling with the names and photos of the cars.
The grand luxury sedan from Mercedes-Benz has always look stunning from way back. This model will tell you that Benz has also been in the pinnacle of luxury. This particular model is powered by a 4.5 V8.
The Peugeot 404 was the first passenger car to be assembled in Nigeria a few years after independence. It has been a grand vehicle and quite shocking to see one still driving after so many years.
Another old generation of the E-class. This is the “Regular’s” predecessor. Debuted in 1968, it became an instant success. It’s also available in coupe (C) body style as seen in car number “8”.
Beetle – Tortoise – Ijapa – among many other names. If you know you never drove or rode in this car, hide your face! The Beetle name was introduced in 1938. It quickly became a worldwide sensation and brought the Volkswagen brand into the limelight.
Nigerian actor and movie producer, Kunle Afolayan also featured his Jaguar XJ. It was still buttery smooth and glowing in all its classic glory. Its luxury is still remarkable.
