2023 Toyota Sequoia Released With A Standard Hybrid Powertrain
The Toyota Sequoia is a full-size three-row SUV that shares many components with the Tundra pickup truck from 2022.
The iForce MAX hybrid powertrain is standard, and it features a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 that delivers 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque.
It will be available in the summer in SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone variants, with prices starting at roughly $50,000.
Toyota is updating its classic body-on-frame vehicles with cutting-edge technology such as larger touchscreens, coil-sprung rear suspensions, and more fuel-efficient powertrains. The new 2022 Tundra full-size pickup arrived first, hoping to take a larger piece of the full-size pickup market controlled by Ford, Chevy, and Ram, and now the new 2023 Sequoia full-size SUV is here with comparable features.
The new 2022 Tundra full-size pickup arrived first, hoping to take a larger portion of the full-size pickup market controlled by Ford, Chevy, and Ram, and now the new 2023 Sequoia full-size SUV has come with comparable changes. It’s also only available as a hybrid.
The Sequoia, like the new Tundra, is built on Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, although it’s shorter than the full-size pickup. The new worldwide Land Cruiser and Lexus LX are also built on this platform, however the former is no longer marketed in the United States.
The previous-generation Sequoia, as well as the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Jeep Wagoneer, employ a solid rear axle instead of an independent system. There are rear air springs and adaptive dampers available, as well as 2.5-inch Fox dampers with internal bypass chambers and remote reservoirs and 33-inch Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires on the off-road-oriented TRD Pro variant.
Improvements made to the Tundra’s interior are carried over to the Sequoia. The SR5 model comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while the huge 14.0-inch touchscreen is an option on that trim and standard on the remainder of the lineup. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. A second-row bench or captain’s chairs are available, and the third-row bench seat can move up to six inches and fold down to fit into an adjustable cargo shelf.
