Lagos Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of 36 Exotic Cars ‘Stolen’ From Canada – See List Of The Affected Auto Dealers

Justice Deinde Isaac Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the final forfeiture of 36 exotic cars allegedly stolen from Canada to Nigeria.

The court had on November 29, 2023 made an order for the interim/temporary forfeiture of the cars, after listening to the EFCC’s lawyer, Abdul Rasheed who moved the application for the order.





After listening to the submissions and considering the documents attached, Justice Dipeolu acceded to the request of the anti graft agency and ordered the final forfeiture of the 36 cars.

The auto shops where the cars were recovered are Wilmon Autos Nigeria Limited, Ikeoyi Enterprises, Ichie Autos, Bounce Autos, Assured Motors, Emeko Auto, CNC Auto, Green Hill Auto, First Core Auto, Samuel Motors, Unique Motors, Nice and Rich Auto, Overall Properties, GIDI Auto and Chris Jane Auto Nigeria Limited.

Nigeria Customs Cancels 25% Penalty On Improperly Imported Vehicles

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has announced the cancellation of 25% penalty on improperly imported vehicles initially attached to the “90-day Window for the regularisation of import duties on specific categories of vehicles.

A press release on Friday 22 March 2024 announcing the cancellation of 25% penalty on improperly imported vehicles reads :

“The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), under the directives of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has initiated a 90-day window, effective from 4th March 2024 to 5th July 2024, for the regularisation of import duties on specific categories of vehicles.

“To ease economic hardship and encourage compliance, the Honourable Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy have approved the suspension of the 25% penalty previously imposed in addition to import duty on improperly imported vehicles.





But vehicles seized and condemned will not be released under this arrangement and shall be forfeited to the Federal Government in accordance with extant regulations, according to the statement.

Four Stolen Mercedes Cars, Numerous Car Keys Recovered From Car-stealing Syndicate In Enugu

Police Operatives of Enugu State Command, serving in the Uwani Police Division, have arrested a car-stealing syndicate who specializes in stealing cars within the Kenyetta Market axis in Uwani, Enugu.

Following reports of car-theft as well as the mounting of operational surveillance by the Operatives, the syndicate’s kingpin, Anioko Chukwujekwu, was arrested on March 3, 2024 while trying to steal a car parked at the market.

The suspect’s confessional statements led to the further arrest of three (3) more suspects in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, who are reportedly his conspirators, receivers, and sellers of the stolen vehicles.

According to a statement by Command, numerous car keys and a total of four different models of Mercedes-Benz, comprising two 190 E, one blue-coloured C-Class and black-coloured 230 E (V-Boot), were recovered from them.

CCECC Celebrates A New Milestone As Lagos–Ibadan Railway Reaches 1000 Days Of Safe Operations

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) is celebrating a new milestone as the Lagos–Ibadan railway reaches One thousand (1,000) days of safe operations.

Since the start of operation in June 2021, the 163.31-km Lagos–Ibadan Railway, with a monthly peak of over 150,000 riders, has safely transported over 2 million passengers.

The Chinese-built Lagos-Ibadan Railway connects Nigeria’s economic center Lagos and the southwest industrial city Ibadan. It has a designed speed of 150 kilometers per hour.

In addition, CCECC has provided all-round technical support for local talent for the operation of the Lagos–Ibadan Railway, including skill enhancement trainings.
