Toyota-backed start-up SkyDrive conducts test flight of its single-seat SD-03 ‘flying car’.
During the test flight, the human pilot flew the flying vehicle around the 2.5-acre Toyota Test Field for about four minutes.
The Tokyo-based company plans to launch a two-seat commercial version by 2023.

Toyota-backed SkyDrive has finally conducted a public demonstration flight of its new SD-03 flying car model on August 25, 2020.
The test flight is the first public demonstration of a flying car in Japan.

During the test flight, the human pilot flew the single-seat SD-03 flying vehicle around the 2.5-acre Toyota Test Field for about four minutes.

The SD-03 is billed as the smallest electric VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) vehicle in the world. Its powertrain consists of 8 electric motors — four sets of counter-rotating rotors, each driving by its electric motors
SkyDrive is hoping to get flight approval for flights beyond the test field by the end of 2020.

The Tokyo-based company plans to launch a two-seat commercial version of the electric VTOL by 2023.
This demonstrations comes few days after the US Air Force unveils its a one-seat Flying Car called Hexa that soon shuttle troops across war zones by 2023.
The electric vertical takeoff and landing flight (eVTOL) vehicle has central seating pod and controlled by a joystick.
