Watch : Volvo Drops 10 Cars From The Sky In Extreme Crash Test
Swedish automaker Volvo drops 10 cars to the ground from 100 feet during extreme crash test.
Cars destroyed during the crash test included XC40 and XC90 SUVs, as well as the V60 Wagon.
Volvo also invited extrication specialists to the crash location. This will help them to better understand how to safely remove trapped passengers in a severely damaged vehicle.

Earlier this year, Swedish automaker Volvo, in a bid to reduce the chances of fatal car accidents, limited the top speed of all its vehicles to just 112 mph. Now, the Geely-owned brand has gone extra mile to prove the safety of its vehicles.
In a new video shared by the carmaker, not one but ten brand new cars were raised to 100 feet in the air using a crane before sending them crashing to the ground.

Cars that were destroyed during the intense crash-testing program included XC40 and XC90 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), as well as the V60 Wagon.

The drop test was done to simulate real-life single-car accidents or collisions between a car and truck at high speeds.
Volvo also invited extrication specialists (emergency services) to the location to put their skills to the test. This will help them to better understand how to safely remove injured occupants trapped in a severely damaged vehicle.

In a press release about the drop test, Hakan Gustafson, a senior investigator with the Volvo Cars Traffic Accident Research Team, said :
“We have been working closely together with the Swedish rescue services for many years. That is because we have the same goal : to have safer roads for all.”

“We hope no one ever needs to experience the most severe accidents, but not all accidents can be avoided.”
“So it is vital there are methods to help save lives when the most severe accidents do happen.”
